The Parish of Herstmonceux is an administrative part of the Wealden District of the County of East
Sussex in England (United Kingdom).
It is south of London and Tunbridge Wells,
Kent; north of Eastbourne; northeast of Brighton; east of Lewes; northwest of Hastings and
Bexhille; and west of Rye
Herstmonceux Parish comprises
the villages of Herstmonceux (formerly Gardner Street) and Cowbeech and a number of other named areas, not all of which are
specified on road signs

BY ROAD
from
the north, west and south:
At the junction of the A22, A267 and A271 - Boship Roundabout - take
the A271 eastwards, in the direction of Battle and Bexhill.
from the east:
Take the A271 from Battle - or the A269
from Bexhill-on-Sea, which joins the A271 - into Herstmonceux.

BY TRAIN
from London:
travel from Victoria
Station to Polegate (Eastbourne/Hastings line, via Gatwick,
Haywards Heath and Lewes)
or
travel from Charing Cross Station to Battle
(Hastings line, via Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells).
Both services are half-hourly
and may take just under 1 hr 20 minutes.
from Paris, Lille and Brussels
by Eurostar:
travel to Ashford
International Station and then to Polegate (via Hastings
and Eastbourne) or to Battle (via Tonbridge)
or
travel to London Waterloo and by tube to London
Victoria or London Charing Cross. Then see from London to
Polegate or Battle

Herstmonceux Parish is about 9 miles from
Polegate station and 10-12 miles from Battle station.
Taxis are available at both stations (about £9-£10 to Herstmonceux).

Fly to London Gatwick (LGW) and
take the train to Polegate
(Eastbourne/Hastings line). Gatwick to Polegate is 44 minutes.
Otherwise fly to London Heathrow (LHR), proceed to Central London. Then
see from London
to Polegate or Battle.
